The Childwatch International thematic group on Children and the Law are distributing a questionnaire to all Key Institutions to map children's participation in family law processes related to post-separation care arrangements internationally. This is the second phase of a larger international comparative study on children and the law. We encourage all Key Institutions to contribute to the study!

The interdisciplinary and international character of SRCD is strongly supported through its biennial meetings. Empirical, theoretical, historical, and methodological submissions to the program from investigators around the globe in all disciplines related to the field of child development are welcome. The Society also encourages submissions from students, both graduate and undergraduate.

The Childwatch Children and the Law project was initiated as a Thematic Group in 2006. In 2007 it set out a project to investigate how children’s rights are respected in laws across different countries who are members of the Childwatch Network.

Childwatch International initiated the consultancy arrangement in 2001 to strengthen its role in capacity building between insitutitions within the network. The mission of the Childwatch International consultancy is to strenghten the capacity of child research within the Key Institutions of the network.

ICCD 2006 is the first conference of its kind - a multidisciplinary international conference specifically for researchers interested in children's lives and children's wellbeing after separation or divorce. The conference will be a unique opportunity to share, debate and integrate leading edge research, theory and methodology. The goal of the conference was to bring together the worldwide,multidisciplinary community of distinguished and emerging adoption researchers enable sharing of findings to encourage interaction and debate about the future research agenda. Conference participants were drawn from a wide range of disciplines such as psychology, psychiatry, sociology, anthropology, social work, history, social policy and law. Plan International is seeking to appoint a multi-disciplinary team of consultants to undertake multi-country research to investigate the benefits of birth registration.

This research project aims to determine the benefits of birth registration both at the micro and macro levels.

The editors of this special issue of Childhood’s Today are looking for papers that will help to assess how research on Latin American childhoods and children can contribute to, and challenge, the field of Childhood Studies.

Please submit abstracts of between 300 and 500 words by July 31st, 2012. Abstracts and articles must be submitted in English

In late fall 2012, the journal Children, Youth and Environments will publish a special issue on the role of physical environments in putting children at risk of violence, in reducing risks of violence, and in creating places of security, refuge and healing. In addition to research articles, the journal carries Field Reports: short articles of about 3,000 words which describe innovative initiatives to improve environments for children and youth—in this case, by reducing risks of violence or creating places of safety and healing. 

Submissions deadline:   October 15, 2012.

On 3 December 2012, during the virtual annual meeting of Members of the Child Protection Monitoring and Evaluation Reference Group (CP MERG), it was discussed and agreed that to improve collaboration, knowledge exchange and overall functioning of the CP MERG, a part-time Knowledge Management, Networking and Coordination Consultant should be recruited in 2013. Attached are the Terms of Reference (TOR) for this position.

The Child in the City conference is the fourth bi-annual conference of the European Network Child Friendly Cities (EN CFC). During the last decennium this conference has been the place to be for all cities and scientists focussing on the theme of a local child friendly policy. Cities from all over Europe (but also from Canada and Australia, and…) inspired each other by telling about their own experiences and looking for similar cities with similar problems. It is as a market and a lab in which new ideas are developed.
