The inaugural European Conference of Social Work Research will take place at St. Catherine’s College, University of Oxford, England, on 23-25 March 2011. This interactive conference will explore the need for a strategic approach to tackling childhood obesity.

International delegates and child welfare experts will gather in New York November 8 to 11 for WorldForum 2010, the 21st annual summit of the International Forum for Child Welfare.
A group of advisors from Childwatch have been asked to attend this 1 ½ day meeting organized in Florence in October 2010. The purpose of this meeting is to review the Child Friendly Cities Research Initiative results to date, to determine future steps in the research and to obtain critical feedback.
The Childwatch Central and Eastern Europe Regional Network has identified the care of children in institutionalized settings as one of the most important topics for vulnerable groups of children in the CEE region. A regional seminar on the topic, titled “Children in Care”, was organized in the Czech Republic in September 2010 in Department of Social Work, Charles Unversity in Prague. Participants represented institutions in the Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovakia, USA, Great Britain and Norway. Main organizer was PhDr. Hana Pazlarová representing Faculty of Philosophy and Arts at Charles University in Prague.
