European Conference of Social Work Research

The inaugural European Conference of Social Work Research will take place at St. Catherine’s College, University of Oxford, England, on 23-25 March 2011. The first of a major annual series, the conference will bring together social work researchers and research users from across Europe to present and exchange research ideas, findings, developments and applications.

The aims of the conference series are to:

1.Promote the development of high levels of innovatory and interdisciplinary social work research across the European community of nations.
2.Develop a range of ways in which social work research may have beneficial consequences for social work practice, service users, service delivery and development.
3.Enhance research capacity within the European social work community.
4.Promote the application of research methods and approaches by those from a wide range of disciplines within and beyond the social sciences, in forms that are relevant for social work research and practice.

Proposals will soon be invited for papers from both established and early career social work and social care researchers. Submissions are to be encouraged across all areas of social work and social care. These may span various forms of research and scholarly work. Proposals will be asked to address at least one of the three conference themes.

A) Innovation in social work and social care research
B) Interdisciplinary social work and social care research
C) Impact of social work and social care research

The call for abstracts should go live on 9th June 2010 and it is anticipated that there will be parallel sessions, symposia, workshops, poster sessions, a Panel and of course the keynotes.
