Childwatch Co-Organizes Global Child Rights Conference in 2009

Child Rights at a Cross-Roads, a global child rights and research conference, will be held in Ethiopia at the end of 2009 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Childwatch International is collaborating with the African Policy Forum and the UNICEF Innocenti Research Centre in organizing the event.

Child Rights at a Cross-Roads will take place from 30 November to 2 December 2009 in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, hosted by the African Child Policy Forum (ACPF).

The conference will focus on how best all involved parties can work together to make research useful for the realization of child rights. The overarching structures that influence implementation processes and the concerns within a range of child rights topics will be highlighted and discussed by researchers, policy makers, practitioners and young people during the three days.

The first announcement of the conference has just been published. The organizing committee is joining forces with other major actors, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, Comparative Research Programme on Poverty (CROP) and others, to carefully plan and prepare the event.
