Msc International Childhood Studies, Birkbeck College, University of London 2011/2012 entry
This interdisciplinary Msc will be of interest to anyone working, or intending to work, with children in service provision or policy development, particularly in culturally diverse settings, or who has an interest in cultures of childhood and who wants to develop the skills needed to produce high-quality independent research.
The programme gives a critical historical and international perspective on the construction of childhood, understood as a site of social inequalities that are racialised, classed and gendered.
The programme is made up of three core modules, an option module and a dissertation.
The three core modules are:
- Social Studies of Childhood: Key Concepts and Issues
- International Political Economy of Childhood
- Researching Children.
