We are interested in proposals for sessions that address the current state of children and meanings of childhood from different doorsteps of the world. We invite proposals for sessions that provide a platform for international and interactive discussions reflecting the most exciting work in the sociology of childhood and that address such relevant and timely concerns as:

  • Children´s Rights and Social Justice
  • Children´s International Migration and Citizenship
  • Childhood in Democracy´s Infancy
  • Children, Society and Exclusions
  • Globalization and New Contours of Childhood
  • Children´s Bodies
  • Poster Session – Children´s Voices, Well-Being and Social Justice

Other topics that address more broadly the major topic of Children´s Voices, Well-Being and Social Justice or that relate to the sub-topics above are encouraged and will be reviewed for inclusion on the program. We are also open to other topics that our RC typically addresses, such as children’s identity, social construction of childhood, and social structure.

RC53 will consider proposals for sessions in Spanish addressing the above themes. However, note that the number reserved for sessions in Spanish is limited to two sessions.

Please send proposals to the Programme Coordinator. A Call for Papers will be sent when the session topics have been selected, so please do not send abstracts for papers now.
