Arab Early Childhood Working Group

Arab Early Childhood Working Group, coordinated by Unesco, has been launched in partnership with UNICEF Amman Office, AGFUND, Arab Council for Childhood Development, Save the Children US, and Soul for Development in Yemen.  The website is now available in both languages (Arabic and English) and includes a set of key documents and materials related to the Early Childhood field.

Arab Early Childhood Working Group was launched in March 2012 at the ECCE regional seminar organised by Unesco. It is to be coordinated by UNESCO Beirut office for the period of 2012-2013. The working group was developed in partnership with UNICEF Amman Office, AGFUND, Arab Council for Childhood Development, Save the Children US, and Soul for Development in Yemen. 
 
In the coming few months the working group is planning to scale up the
activities in terms of:
a) finalizing the inception documents (profile/vision and mission/criteria for
membership/ action plan/ and strategy for dissemination;
b) inviting more partners and donors to join; and c) inviting more resource
persons to sign up for membership;
 
The core group of this WG have been lately engaged in many
preparatory activities including:
 
1- Convening its first meeting in Beirut in March 2012.
 
2- Advocating for the WG with partners and stakeholders.
 
3- Mobilizing resources at the regional level.
 
4- Producing the 1st issue of the WG news letter http://www.aktarnini.com/Newsletter1.pdf (Arabic only)
 
 
5- Developing the Website of the WG, which aims at providing a
platform for ECCE professionals in the Arab region to share and
exchange resources/experiences/and plans. The website is available in
both languages (Arabic and English) and includes a set of key
documents and materials related to the EC field. It is within the
action plan of the WG to keep mapping and collecting Arabic and
regional materials/reports/studies/ successful models to be uploaded
on the website. It is intended to be a reference tool for
professionals working in this field.
