Board - Childwatch International

The CWI Board is responsible for implementing the strategies, policies and priorities set by the Key Institutions Assembly. In 2013, a new 10-member Board for Childwatch was  elected by Childwatch Key Institutions for a three year term. The new board’s membership reflects the global reach of Childwatch and the broad range of expertise within the Child Research community.

The Childwatch International Board shall

  • Review and approve or disapprove applications for membership based on the statutes and on guidelines set by the Key Institutions Assembly;
  • Ensure the execution of the actions decided upon by the Key Institutions Assembly;
  • Identify suitable strategies, programmes and projects which shall be given priority;
  • Advocate for and promote the Childwatch International policies and strategies and promote and encourage collaboration within the Child Research community and between this community and relevant decision-makers.

The board is also responsible for developing relations with third parties. It approves annual plans and budgets and secures good monitoring and evaluation of Childwatch activities. Among its members, the board elects a President and two Vice-Presidents among its members. The three of them constitutes the Executive Committee.

During the period from 2013 to 2015 an Executive Committee elected by the Board functioned with five of the Board members (Elisabeth Back-Hansen, Roger Hart, Maria Cristina García, Norma del Río and Nicola Taylor). In 2015, the president and vicepresidents of the Board were elected by the formal procedures.
